'Myrtle Amphora' 2001.
1950mm x 1300mm x1100mm diameter.
Myrtle, Oil Paint.
Carved from a single tree section of ancient Myrtle (nothofagus coninghamii), the form was carved in the SW forests of Tasmania where it was left on the road side after logging, hollowed with the chainsaw and then transported back to the studio for kiln drying. After 3 months slowly drying the form was chisel textured and painted inside.
